Global disparities in sharing cultural heritage spark economic exploitation concerns.
The article examines how different regions and countries participate in sharing intangible cultural heritage through listings. By analyzing over 500 inscriptions, the researchers found disparities in which regions are actively involved in the process. They looked at the growth of listings over time and whether they were national or multinational. The goal was to show how some areas have more opportunities for sharing their cultural heritage on a global scale.
