Climate change in Inner Mongolia transforming grasslands into desert landscapes rapidly.
Grasslands in Inner Mongolia, China have been changing over the past 30 years due to climate conditions. The study used a classification system to analyze these changes and found that areas of forest and meadow steppe decreased, while typical steppe and desert areas increased. The vegetation changes were reflected in satellite data, showing a decrease in greenery where grassland types shifted, and an increase where they changed back. Overall, the study highlights how climate change and human activities are impacting the grassland ecosystem in Inner Mongolia.
