Fluoride contamination in South India groundwater puts children's health at risk.
Fluoride contamination in groundwater in the Shanmuganadhi River basin in south India was studied to understand its impact on human health. By analyzing water samples and using statistical techniques, it was found that 23% of the samples had unsafe levels of fluoride for consumption. The study also identified villages at risk for dental fluorosis among children. The researchers suggest using Managed Aquifer Recharge to improve groundwater quality in the area.
