New method creates acetylphenyl boronic acids with high yields efficiently.
Researchers have developed a simple method to make acetylphenyl boronic acids. They started with bromoacetophenones and turned them into bromo ketals. By treating these with specific chemicals, they obtained p- and m-acetylphenyl boronic acids in good yields. They also made o-acetylphenyl boronic acid using a different method. This new process is practical and can be done on a large scale.
