Microfinance services have been found to help reduce poverty in developing countries like Sri Lanka. Many studies show a positive link between microfinance and poverty reduction, with most agreeing that microfinance has the potential to alleviate poverty. Some studies, however, found mixed effects of microfinance on poverty. Research has focused on the impact of microcredit and micro-savings on poverty alleviation, with few studies looking at all aspects of microfinance.
