The researchers studied how to water cotton efficiently using drip irrigation and plastic mulch. They found that cotton needs different amounts of water at each growth stage, with the most water needed during the bolling stage. By using plastic mulch, they saved water and increased cotton yield by 30.2%. This method also improved water use efficiency by 41.5%.
