New SCAR Marker Identifies High Sugar Gene in Sweet Sorghum!
Researchers used molecular marker technology to identify a new marker for high sugar genes in sweet sorghum. They analyzed specific DNA sequences in different sorghum plants and their hybrids. The results showed a 79% success rate in amplifying DNA products, with a 7% recombination rate of the target gene in the hybrid populations. By converting the identified DNA sequence into a new marker, SCARS512-441, they successfully amplified the same target gene in sweet sorghum populations.
