Real-time sensor data revolutionizes building management for efficiency and accessibility.
High-performance buildings use sensors to collect data on indoor environment and energy use. Facility managers often struggle to understand and track this data using text or spreadsheets. Building Information Modeling (BIM) creates a virtual version of a building, but can't show real-time performance data. This study presents three ways to integrate sensor technology with BIM for real-time data visualization and analysis. By combining sensors with BIM, building managers can improve efficiency and make better decisions. The researchers developed a user-friendly software using Autodesk Navisworks to analyze real-time and historical data from a university engineering building. This integration can help property managers, owners, and occupants manage buildings more effectively.
