Unpublished coins shed light on economic stability of ancient Nabatean kingdom.
The study examined the coins of the Nabataean King Rabel II from 70-106AD to understand the economic and cultural aspects of his reign. By analyzing a collection of 264 unpublished coins, researchers found a diverse range of coin designs and evidence of economic stability, contradicting theories of economic collapse as the cause of the kingdom's downfall. The coins also shed light on the political and cultural roles of Nabatean women, such as Queen Shaqilat acting as regent for King Rabel II due to her son's young age.
