Korean Dynasty's Use of Liao Era Names Reveals Diplomatic Strategies.
The study examined how Korea used names from the Liao Dynasty era in their products during the 10th to 12th centuries. Korea adopted the names of the Liao Dynasty to maintain diplomatic relations with China and other countries. They used the Liao Dynasty names in various aspects like inscriptions, tomb names, and crafts. This practice helped understand Korea's diplomatic relations and societal systems. Initially using the Liao Dynasty names, Korea later switched to using names from the Song Dynasty and eventually stopped using Liao Dynasty names when the power of the Liao Dynasty declined. The use of these names in Korean artifacts reflected the political dynamics of the time and showed a structured administrative system in Korea.
