Solar Cells on Buildings Slash Energy Costs, Emissions, and Boost Comfort
This research looked at how installing solar panels on buildings affects power generation, energy use, comfort, and CO2 emissions. By trying different positions and directions for the solar cells in a building in Egypt, they found that putting solar cells on the walls and roofs reduced energy use by up to 40%. Solar cells on the roof facing south made the most power. South-facing cells also improved indoor temperature and comfort. North-facing cells made the least power but reduced CO2 emissions. Cells inside windows provided less light. Overall, solar cells can help save energy and make buildings more comfortable.
