Intensified N fertilization leads to increased soil nitrogen levels in East China.
Soil total nitrogen (TN) and carbon-to-nitrogen ratio (C/N) are important for crop growth. This study looked at soil TN and C/N in Zhejiang province, China. They collected soil samples and used a model to map TN levels. Factors like soil pH, fertilization, and weather affected TN and C/N. The average TN in cropland soil was 1.75 g/kg, with some variation. Over time, TN increased slightly while C/N ratio decreased, likely due to more nitrogen fertilization. This research helps update soil databases for better crop management in the region.
