Revolutionary Catalyst Accelerates Thermal Decomposition, Enhancing Safety of Explosives.
A new material made by combining MOF-5 and graphene oxide can help break down ammonium perchlorate (AP) more efficiently. The composite material, called GO@MOF-5, raises the temperature at which AP breaks down and increases the energy released during the process. This means the decomposition of AP happens faster and more effectively. The MOF-5 material provides many active sites for chemical reactions, while graphene oxide helps conduct heat and electricity, speeding up the decomposition of AP.
