Scientists evaluated 112 different sugarcane clones to find the best ones for high cane yield. They used a special design that didn't need multiple replications. The results showed that some clones were better than the standard ones for cane yield. They also found that certain traits like number of shoots and tillers were good indicators for future improvements in sugarcane.
