Shading boosts plant photosynthesis, potentially increasing food production and oxygen levels.
The study looked at how Phoebe bournei plants adapt to different light levels. They grew the plants under full light, 50% shade, and 78% shade for six months. They found that the plants had more chlorophyll and better photosynthesis under 78% shade compared to full light. The shaded plants could use both weak and strong light efficiently. Overall, shading increased the plants' ability to photosynthesize by increasing chlorophyll content and other factors.
