Plastic film mulching boosts wheat yields, conserves soil moisture
Plastic film mulching can increase soil temperature and moisture, helping spring wheat grow better. It keeps water from evaporating and brings water deeper for roots to use. This helps the wheat in the early stages, but can limit root growth later on. Overall, mulching didn't significantly affect the wheat yield. The best time for mulching was found to be around 40-60 days after planting.
