Improper waste management in Ethiopian town leads to health risks.
The study looked at how people in Bedele Town, Ethiopia feel about managing solid waste. Researchers talked to households, observed the area, and had group discussions to gather information. They found that households were not disposing of waste properly, leading to health issues like colds and typhoid. On average, each household produced about 0.3240 kg of waste per day. Factors like age, education, and awareness affected how willing people were to manage waste. Overall, the community didn't realize the negative impact of improper waste disposal on the environment. The researchers suggest that the municipality should work with others to improve waste management practices and create proper disposal sites.
