Researchers in Shanxi Province improved traditional biogas digesters by adding a pretreatment tank and insulation materials to increase biogas production in winter. By enhancing the digester's structure, they found that even in cold temperatures, a 6-8 m3 digester can provide enough biogas for a household's daily energy needs.
