The Asian financial crisis in 1997-1998 and the global financial crisis in 2008 had similar causes and patterns. Lessons from the Asian crisis were not learned, leading to the recurrence of a global financial crisis. The study suggests that precautions need to be taken to prevent another financial crisis in the future.
