The article looks at how changes in the stock market affect spending habits in South Africa. They used different methods to see how expected and unexpected changes in stock market wealth impact spending. The results show that both expected and unexpected changes in stock market wealth have a small positive effect on spending in South Africa. This could be because not many households in South Africa invest in the stock market.
