Excessive irrigation and nitrogen fertilization harm winter wheat yield and nitrogen absorption.
Supplemental irrigation and nitrogen use were studied to see how they affect winter wheat yield and nitrogen absorption. Different levels of irrigation and nitrogen had varying effects on plant height, leaf area, and yield. Excessive irrigation and nitrogen did not significantly impact plant growth. The best yield was achieved with moderate levels of both irrigation and nitrogen. Nitrogen absorption was higher in plants treated with nitrogen, but excessive irrigation and nitrogen hindered nitrogen distribution to seeds. Overall, moderate irrigation and nitrogen levels can improve winter wheat growth and yield.
