The study compares two economic models to see the effects of shifting water use in a wildlife refuge in Nevada from farming to recreation. One model is called SDSAM and the other CGE. The SDSAM model predicts bigger impacts on agriculture than the CGE model. The researchers think the CGE model is more suitable when studying how changes in rural areas affect the economy.
