Green manure plants boost nutrient-rich vermicompost production for sustainable agriculture
Pressmud was turned into nutrient-rich vermicompost by adding cow dung and green manure plants like Gliricidia sepium and Leucaena leucocephala. Eudrilus eugeniae worms were used in the process. The vermicompost showed lower acidity, higher nutrient content, and increased microbial activity. The addition of cow dung and green manure plants led to better vermicompost quality with higher nitrogen levels. The worms thrived on the pressmud and green manure mix, while cow dung and green manure combination helped in worm reproduction. This method resulted in nutrient-enriched vermicompost production.
