Revolutionizing compost quality for faster, higher yield agriculture in Africa.
The researchers wanted to figure out how to make high-quality compost quickly using different materials like sawdust and rice husks. They composted these materials with poultry manure in different ratios and found that sawdust compost reached good quality after 8 weeks. They discovered that the amount of nitrogen in the compost was closely related to how mature it was. By using specific measures of stability and maturity, they showed that compost quality can be improved in a short time, no matter what materials are used.
