Personality traits predict emotional intelligence in adolescents, shaping future success.
The researchers wanted to see if personality traits could predict emotional intelligence in teenagers. They studied 530 students aged 17 to 20, using surveys to measure personality factors and emotional intelligence. They found that being outgoing, open to new experiences, and responsible were linked to higher emotional intelligence. On the other hand, being anxious was linked to lower emotional intelligence. Being agreeable also seemed to play a role, but the connection was not as strong. Overall, a person's personality traits can help predict how emotionally intelligent they are.
