Crop rotations boost soil health, increase biodiversity for sustainable agriculture.
Soil bacteria are important for healthy agriculture. A study in Hungary looked at how different crop systems affect soil bacteria. They found that crop rotations didn't change bacterial diversity much, except for a complex rotation system. While all systems had similar bacteria, maize and alfalfa rotations were different from maize monoculture. Wheat and maize rotations were also different from a Norfolk-type rotation.
