New pile technology reduces soil instability and speeds up construction projects.
A new type of pile called rigid-drainage pile was tested in saturated silt sandy soils to see how well it can handle excess water pressure. The tests showed that the rigid-drainage pile can dissipate 70% of excess water pressure in 1000 seconds, while a regular pile takes almost 4000 seconds to do the same. This means the new pile can reduce peak pressure, quickly drain excess water, and maintain foundation stability better than traditional piles.
