Bacteria from Tuz Gölü lake can clean up herbicide pollution!
Scientists isolated bacteria from Tuz Gölü lake in Turkey that can survive in very salty water. They found 4 types of bacteria that can grow well in medium with 0-10% salt. One of the bacteria, called strain A-4, can break down a harmful chemical found in herbicides. This bacteria could be helpful for cleaning up the environment. Further tests are needed to identify the exact species of these bacteria.
