Drinking water safety guaranteed for millions in China's Three Gorges region.
Water pollution accidents in China pose a risk to urban drinking water safety. To address this, a safety platform was developed using a water quality monitoring model and geographic information system. The platform can predict pollutant concentrations and their distribution in the water source area. By analyzing an ammonia nitrogen leak accident, it was found that pollutants took different times to reach water quality standards depending on wind direction. The platform is effective in quickly predicting and managing pollution migration in emergency situations.
