New Pepper Hybrids Show Superior Productivity for Commercial Production.
A study on pepper hybrids was conducted in the Middle Delta region from 2008 to 2011. Eight sweet pepper breed lines were crossed to create 28 F1 hybrids. The researchers found significant differences among the parent plants and hybrids. Some hybrids showed better growth and yield compared to their parents. Additive and non-additive gene effects were observed for different traits. Two hybrids, "B.23-5 x MAR-6" and "L.S.5-14 x L.S.2-2", were found to be superior to commercial hybrids in terms of productivity. These hybrids could be used for commercial pepper production due to their high productivity levels.
