Inter-basin water transfer model eases conflicts, optimizes resource allocation in China.
Inter-basin water transfer projects can help balance water supply and demand in regions with shortages. The South-to-North Water Diversion Middle Route Project in China aims to optimize water allocation across river basins. By using a water supply scheduling model, the researchers found that the Integrated Inter-basin Diversion Draw Water Reservoir Regulation (IDR) model effectively balances conflicting water demands. The simulation results show that the IDR model is practical and efficient for managing water resources across basins.
