Tamale Waste Study Reveals Potential for Compost Fertilizer Production.
The researchers studied the amount and characteristics of solid waste in Tamale, Ghana. They found that households in the area generate a lot of waste, with an average of 81.70 kg per household. The waste had a high moisture content of 48.29%, making it suitable for composting. The rate of waste generation was calculated to be 0.3148 kg per person per day. The study also showed that there was a weak relationship between the amount of waste produced and the size of the household. This information is important for planning waste management systems in the city.
