New Study Reveals Best Fish Species for Healthier Diets and Nutrition.
The researchers analyzed the nutritional content of five different freshwater fish species from Shiroro Lake in Nigeria. They found that the fish varied in protein, fat, carbohydrate, ash, and moisture content. The fatty acids in the fish also differed, with some species having more polyunsaturated fats. Tilapia had the highest cholesterol content, while Catfish had the lowest. The mineral composition of the fish species also varied, with some species being rich in essential minerals like potassium and zinc. Gynarchus niloticus and Synodotus clarias were identified as good sources of healthy polyunsaturated fats, while other species were noted for their mineral content.
