New soil moisture mapping method reveals hidden patterns on hillslopes!
Scientists tested a new method called electromagnetic induction to map soil moisture patterns on hillslopes. They used a device called GEM-300 at different frequencies to measure soil moisture. The results showed that the device could accurately predict soil moisture levels, especially during rainfall events. However, using a single relationship for all measurement points smoothed out the soil moisture patterns. This method has potential for quickly and non-invasively mapping soil moisture at a larger scale.
