Rice husk mulch boosts potato yield in saline areas of Bangladesh.
In a study conducted in a coastal saline area of Bangladesh, researchers tested different mulch materials for zero tillage potato cultivation. They used rice straw, rice husk, and compost as mulches. Results showed that rice husk produced the highest tuber yield, followed by rice straw. However, weed growth was highest in rice husk. Rice straw was suggested for its profitability. The mulch treatments helped conserve moisture and reduce soil salinity compared to the control. Overall, using mulch materials like rice straw can improve potato yield in saline areas.
