China's Innovation Policies Reinforce Regional Disparities, Hindering Economic Growth.
In China, innovation policies play a crucial role in regional development. A study focused on Jiangsu province analyzed different types of local and national innovation policies. The researchers found that local policies vary based on economic development levels, with national policies concentrated in more developed regions. The study showed that policies have a greater impact on economic output than on knowledge output, and cumulative local policies significantly affect both. Key factors like innovation subjects, intellectual property, and talent policies also influence outputs. However, there are challenges in policy implementation due to low awareness, lack of financial support, and an imperfect innovation environment. The study suggests that China's regional innovation policies should be more inclusive, pay attention to less developed regions, and improve market allocation of innovation resources.
