Urban shapes and population distribution affect energy used for water supply in cities. Different city shapes and population distributions impact energy consumption differently. Radial-uniform cities use the least energy for water supply. Secondary water supply systems consume most of the energy. Radial/monocentric cities are best for saving energy when secondary water supply is not needed. Radial/uniform cities are recommended when secondary water supply is required. Pressurized pumping systems are suggested for secondary water supply to reduce energy use.
