Optimizing nitrogen levels boosts maize yield and nutritional quality.
Applying the right amount of nitrogen to summer maize can boost grain filling, increase yield, and enhance nutritional quality. By testing different nitrogen levels on two maize hybrids, researchers found that moderate nitrogen levels led to higher grain weight and better nutritional content. Excessive nitrogen, however, decreased yield and quality. Overall, the study shows that proper nitrogen application can improve the growth and nutritional value of summer maize.
