A new method called 3D Otsu has been developed to improve image segmentation. By using a fusion technique that focuses on local contrast, this method preserves edge details and boundaries better than previous methods. The fusion process enhances localized information in the image, resulting in higher quality segmented images with more details and better gray-level distributions. Compared to traditional 1D and 2D Otsu methods, the 3D Otsu fusion approach produces more accurate segmentation results.
