Severe drought stress threatens growth of Karst area tree seedlings.
The study looked at how Cyclobalanopsis glauca seedlings adapt to drought in Karst areas. They grew the seedlings under different levels of drought stress and measured leaf growth and chlorophyll fluorescence. As drought stress increased, the seedlings showed decreased leaf growth, chlorophyll content, and photosynthetic efficiency. Light drought had little effect, moderate drought slowed growth, and severe drought had a significant impact. The seedlings under severe drought stress suffered the most, but overall, the seedlings showed some adaptability and resistance to drought.
