Stormwater management should focus on dealing with water at its source. An infiltration-exfiltration system placed on road gutters in São Paulo, Brazil, was tested. The system has a pervious concrete surface and helps reduce peak flow and volume of runoff. The system needs deeper gravel layers and a flow restrictor for better performance. It helps avoid ponding, treats water, and reduces maintenance.
