Arid Iran Finds Sustainable Farming Practices to Conserve Scarce Water Resources
The study focused on finding ways to save water in a region in Iran that struggles with limited water resources. By analyzing different economic sectors, researchers found that agriculture uses the most water but contributes the least to the region's economy. They tested three water-saving scenarios and discovered that changing crop patterns had the biggest impact on water conservation. Increasing water productivity was also effective in saving water. These findings can help local policymakers make decisions to use water more efficiently and sustainably.
