Students prefer non-touching, smiling teachers for better classroom experience.
Physical education students at Gdansk Academy shared their expectations for teachers' behaviors in class. They want teachers to show nonverbal immediacy, like smiling at the whole group, but not touching them. Students also expect verbal immediacy, clarity, and matter-of-factness in teaching. The study found significant differences in students' expectations for nonverbal behaviors and showed that first and second-year students have different expectations in some areas.
