Crushed glass filtration media purifies drinking water, exceeds international standards.
The study tested using crushed glass and sand to filter drinking water. Different filters were set up with varying depths and types of media to see how well they removed turbidity (cloudiness) from the water. Results showed that crushed glass was very effective at removing turbidity, meeting international standards for clean water. Dual filters with crushed glass as the top layer were especially good, removing 98.4% of turbidity. In water with low turbidity levels, crushed glass filters worked better than sand filters. But for water with high turbidity levels, sand filters were more effective. Overall, crushed glass proved to be a successful filtration media for purifying drinking water.
