New Boro Rice Variety Thrives in Low Temperatures, Boosting Crop Resilience
A study was done to find rice seedlings that can survive in cold temperatures below 15°C in Northwest Bangladesh. Five rice varieties were tested, and BR-16 showed the best ability to withstand the cold. BR-16 had the highest levels of proline, chlorophyll, and carotenoids compared to the other varieties. This means BR-16 is more likely to survive in low temperatures than the other rice varieties tested.
