Polluted Lake Threatens Recreational Activities and Water Supply
The researchers studied the water quality of Bera Lake in Malaysia by analyzing 18 different parameters like temperature, turbidity, and oxygen levels. They found that the water quality in the lake is suitable for recreational activities, but some areas need basic treatment for water supply. The study showed that human activities, especially agriculture near the lake, are affecting its water quality. For example, high levels of BOD were found in the agriculture area, while COD levels were higher in the resort area. Overall, the study suggests that continued agricultural activities may lead to environmental degradation and algal blooms in Bera Lake.
