Carbon footprint of maize and rapeseed production higher in animal farming.
Agriculture can harm the environment, so it's important to find ways to produce crops sustainably. A study looked at maize and rapeseed production on different farms in Poland. They found that animal farming types had a higher carbon footprint and cost more to produce these crops. Using mineral fertilizers had the biggest impact on both the environment and costs. Including carbon sequestration helped reduce the global warming impact of crop production. The study shows that a holistic approach that considers both environmental and economic factors is needed to make agriculture more sustainable.
