New Study Reveals Winter Wheat Varieties Impact on Environment and Profit
The study looked at how different types of winter wheat respond to nitrogen fertilization in different growing seasons. They found that the amount of nitrogen in the soil affected grain yield and nitrogen use efficiency. Some wheat cultivars did better with more nitrogen, while others did not. The researchers also discovered that the optimal nitrogen level for maximum grain yield varied between growing seasons. This means that adjusting nitrogen fertilization to each wheat cultivar is important for getting the best results. Additionally, the unpredictable weather in different seasons can make it challenging to apply nitrogen fertilizer optimally for winter wheat production in the southern Pannonian plain.
