Rare Cambrian fossil discovery sheds light on ancient marine life
A new collection of ancient fossils called the Fulu biota was discovered in southeastern Yunnan, China. These fossils come from a variety of different animal groups, including trilobites, arthropods, echinoderms, worms, and algae. The arthropods are the most diverse group in the biota, followed by echinoderms. The fossils found in the Fulu biota are from a specific time period called the late Guzhangian Age, which is between two other known fossil collections in the region. This discovery is significant because it provides new insights into life during this time period, especially in Gondwana.
