The article examines income inequality in Russia and its changes after the 2008 recession. It delves into how official versus unofficial data on income inequality can differ. The 2008 economic downturn worsened inequality and uneven wealth distribution in Russia. Surprisingly, after the crisis, inequality actually improved. The study aims to shed light on the complex relationship between economic crises, inequality, and wealth distribution, especially in the aftermath of the 2008 recession in Russia.
